Summary of the Classification:
Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and for industrial use.

Principal Responsibilities:
¥ Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of water into treating plant
¥ Dumps specified amounts of chemicals into water or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water
Performs many of the following responsibilities:
- Turns valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities
- Pumps purified water into water mains
- Monitors panel board and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates and distribution of water
- Cleans tanks and filter beds
- Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment
- Tests water samples
- Records data such as residual content of chemicals and water pressure.
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience Required:
Typically, a minimum of two (2) years water purification experience, preferably in a municipal treatment facility and knowledge of chemical treatment programs, filtering systems and laboratory testing
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Inspecting
- Water Pur System Install/Maint
- Experience reading analog and digital gauges and mechanical troubleshooting skills for the operation of pumps, motors, etc are musts.
- A background using the reverse osmosis water purification method and experience with Scada systems preferred.
