Laboratory Technician

 

 

Summary of the Classification:

Under direct to general supervision, performs duties to conduct prototype or laboratory tests following prescribed procedures.
 

Principal Responsibilities:
 
¥      May also build prototypes, models, and special equipment and/or perform basic material or environmental tests using basic techniques with electrical/electronic, chemical, and mechanical equipment that includes set-up, calibration, trouble-shooting, monitoring, and data collection.
 
 
Performs many of the following responsibilities:
 
  • Operates laboratory or other equipment such as pumps and rig equipment, as required to execute assigned tasks
  • Documents test data for reporting purposes
  • Maintains files and documentation related to test equipment and test results of equipment
  • Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties
 
 
Education Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Eight (8) hours of college chemistry is required to work as a chemical technician.


Experience Required:


one (1) to five (5) years of experience.
 

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Required to provide completion of Fuels Laboratory from Military / Civilian accredited training
  • Should be knowledgeable in petroleum testing procedures and standards IAW the ASTM and Mil-Std-3004A
  • Should be proficient in Microsoft Programs, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Must have normal color vision.
