Fire Crew Chief
Summary of the Classification:
Supervises the operations element of a fire protection organization to ensure it provides quality resource protections and fire fighting support for structural and other Firefighting operations.Ensure an effective fire protection program and fire prevention program. IAW DoDI 6055.6, DoDI 6055.6-M, AFI 32-2001, USAFE Supplements, and all applicable National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA) and AFCESA NFPA Technical Implementation Guides. Plan fire and rescue operations to ensure adequate response. Provide efficient and effective emergency response. Minimize loss of life and property. Dispatch emergency vehicles in a timely manner to minimize loss of life and property. Ensure Fire fighting vehicles and equipment and Fire extinguishers are operational and available.

Principal Responsibilities:
¥ Plans, schedules and supervises fire protection activities
¥ Directs and controls fire attach, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue activities to include performing emergency medical care and CPR
¥ Minimizes loss of life and maximizes protection of property
¥ Perform fire prevention support activities
Performs many of the following responsibilities:
- Direct fire-fighting crew members during evacuation and cleanup operations involving spillage of hazardous materials
- Direct crew members in the care and maintenance of fire fighting apparatus and equipment as well as fire station and grounds surrounding the fire station
- Resolves complaints of personnel if within areas of responsibility
- Refer major issues to the on duty Assistant Fire Chief
Education Required:
Two year Degree in an associate field is required, Bachelors preferred.

Experience Required:
Typically, ten (10) years of experience in a fire department.
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Must meet minimum prerequisite DOD/IFSAC requirements for Fire and Emergency Services
- Must have fire fighting experience (FFI, FFII) as well as Hazmat Operations , Fire Officer I, II, and Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor II and ARFF I.
- First Responder and CPR qualified
